Expert Physical Therapy, Dry Needling, & Bike Fits
for active* people
*Anyone who loves movement of any kind including but not limited to weekend warriors, chasing down your kids, high-level competitors, the obnoxiously active, and senior crushers.
I help people get unbroken, I like to ride bikes, and love the color PURPLE.
I’m Chelsee Pummel, PT, DPT, OCS.
Growing up in a small town in South Dakota, I fell in love with sports at a young age. A middle school ski accident landed me in PT and my interest in the profession began.
My education took me to the University of Hawaii-Manoa (UH) where I studied Sports Nutrition, ran cross country for UH, learned to surf, and enjoyed the cultural experience the Hawaiian melting pot provided. I obtained my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in San Diego.
For the last decade, I worked for Bozeman Health, growing my experience in a array of clinical experience including treatment of: post-operative orthopedic surgeries, orthopedic injuries, vestibular conditions, women’s health/pelvic floor, and neurologic cases. I was also fortunate to treat the Bobcats for 3 years at MSU, which included: acute and chronic sports injuries and post-operative rehabilitation
Outside of work I love riding my bike, skiing, and running in the mountains. And competing in all these things. From 2019-2021, I was on the US national skimo team, competing around the country and in Europe.
I am very excited to move into private practice to help the like-minded, motivated, and active population of Bozeman. Regardless of your position in life, I am happy to be part of helping you reach your goals, whether it’s completing a 50k run injury-free, recovering from a major injury, or being able to keep up with your kids without pain.
What I Treat:
General orthopedic injuries: neck, back, shoulder, elbow, hand, pelvis, hip, knee, ankle, toes! This includes all of your plantar fasciitis, ACL injuries, hip impingement, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, back pain (chronic or acute).. All the things
Diagnose, treat, and prevent sports injuries.
Pelvic floor dysfunction including incontinence or pelvic pain
Vestibular dysfunction - dizziness!
Help in the management of any musculoskeletal conditions.
Injury risk reduction: We can screen your movement to see what’s not “optimal” and address deficits before they become an injury.
Getting back into running? Let’s see if you have enough mobility and strength to do it without risk of injury in a few months.
Assist in pre and post-operative management. Total joint replacements, Brostrom repair, SLAP repair, ACL repair, spinal decompression… to name a few. Post-operative outcomes improve with pre-operative rehab, so if you have a surgery coming up, let’s work together now.
Your first visit
We will spend time discussing your history, injury, and goals. A thorough evaluation, which includes mobility and movement assessments to identify your impairments, will help lead us to the culprit of your symptoms.
We will then devise a personalized approach to help address these impairments and restore your functional mobility. This plan will include various treatments including specific exercises, soft tissue mobility which can include Trigger Point Dry Needling, muscle reeducation, and gait training.
If you are fresh out of surgery, I will help guide you through your post-operative protocol. We will work to progress you quickly, yet thoughtfully, to get you back to what you want to be doing. Rehabbing from an orthopedic surgery is a sport in itself and I’ll be there to help coach you through that challenge, which takes its toll both physically and mentally.

I had an excellent experience working with Chelsee. Her knowledge, technical expertise, and kindness is impressive. The personalized plan she gave me for exercise is perfect and manageable. I am stronger, more confident, and able to continue my recreational activities without pain. My back hasn't felt this good in 10 years and continues to improve.

FAQs

I can bill most insurance companies. I am in-network with BCBS, Mountain Health Co-op, and Pacific Source.
All other insurance companies are “out-of network” which means your deductible may be different/higher or they might pay back less than in-network. But sometimes they actually pay a decent amount. -
You betcha! You can pay in cash, or through your account on my booking site: Jane.com.

Gym clothes or looser clothing that doesn’t restrict your range of motion. Dressing in layers is a good idea to help manage gym temperatures and allow us to access the affected part of the body.

Do I need a referral from my doctor to see you?
No, not in the state of Montana. However, your insurance may require this. Blue Cross Blue Shield, Montana Health Co-op, and Pacific Source typically do not. But, please check with your insurance to confirm.
You may also pay the cash rate if your insurance requires a referral and you’d like to see me without one. -
Yes.
